THIS NOTICE is given pursuant to section 6 of the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (the “FMA”) and in accordance with the First Nations Tax Commission Standards Respecting Notices Relating to Local Revenue Laws, 2018.
The Squamish Nation (the “First Nation”) proposes to enact the Squamish Nation Sen̓áḵw Sewer Services Fee Law, 2025 (the “Proposed Law”).
DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED LAW: The Proposed Law is made under the authority of paragraph 5(1)(a.1) of the FMA. The Proposed Law applies to Kitsilano No. 6 ("IR 6") only, where a development, commonly referred to as "Sen̓áḵw", is underway. The Proposed Law authorizes the First Nation to levy fees for the provision of sewer services to the holders of interests within IR6 at rates that correlate with the City of Vancouver Sewer and Watercourse By-law No. 8093, as modified by the Squamish Nation Senakw Sewer and Watercourse By-law 2022, as amended or replaced from time to time, plus an administrative fee $350 to cover the First Nation's costs of administration of the sewer services. The fees levied by the First Nation pursuant to the Proposed Law reflect the projected cost of the First Nation in providing sewer services to IR6.
The fee law report provides a summary of the projected cost of the service, how the cost of the service was determined, and the proportion of the total cost that the First Nation will recover through the fees set out in the Proposed Law.
A copy of the Proposed Law and fee law report may be obtained from the First Nation at the address set out below. A copy of fee law report may also be viewed on the First Nation website at www.squamish.net.
