NOTICE OF INTENTION FROM TSAWOUT FIRST NATION

TO DEVELOP REFERENCE JURISDICTION TRANSITION PLAN AND TAXPAYER MEETING

 

November 28th, 2025, from 5-7 pm in the Tsawout multi-purpose room

 

To: Tsawout First Nation Property Taxpayers

 

NOTICE is given that the Tsawout First Nation (the “First Nation”) intends to develop a reference jurisdiction transition plan in order to transition to setting tax rates on Tsawout First Nation reserve lands that are identical to those in the District of Central Saanich. The First Nation will hold a meeting, open to all current taxpayers of the First Nation, to review and discuss the First Nation’s reference jurisdiction transition plan.

 

The reference jurisdiction transition plan will:

 

1.               Provide the justification for transitioning from the current property taxation mill rates to rates  that are identical to the mill rates that apply in the District of Central Saanich.

 

2.               Set out how the tax rates will change to match the District of Central Saanich’s rates in each property class over the next three (3) taxation years, beginning with the first phase in the 2026 property tax year.

 

All taxpayers are encouraged to attend this meeting. A copy of the reference jurisdiction transition plan may be obtained in advance of the meeting through the contact identified below. Copies of the plan will be available at the meeting.

THIS NOTICE is given to all current property taxpayers of the First Nation, pursuant to section  7 of the First Nations Tax Commission Standards Respecting Notices Relating to Local Revenue Laws, 2018.
