Notice of Nomination Meeting

Adams Lake Indian Band

Notice is hereby given to the Electors (Voters) of the Adams Lake Indian Band.


There will be a meeting at the Old Band Hall 6430 village Road IR#4 on Saturday December 13, 2014 between the hours of 10am to noon for the purpose of nominating candidates for the positions of Chief and five (5) Councillors in the General Election to be held on Saturday February 28, 2015. A list of the eligible Electors is posted at the Adams Lake Indian Band Administration Office. Copies of the Adams Lake Indian Band Elections rules are available on line at www.adamslakeband.org under C&C Elections, or at the Adams lake Indian Band Administration Office.

Any Elector who is unable to vote in person may vote by means of mail-in-ballots by contacting the Electoral Officer at the contacts set out below. She/he will be required to provide proof of identity of eligibility to vote as required by the Electoral Officer.

The Qualifications for Candidacy for those persons seeking are as follows: (in accordance with Part 7 of the 2014 Adams Lake Secwepemc Election Rules)

  1. be a registered ALIB member of Secwepemc ancestry;
  2. have attained the age of 18 as of the Election Date;
  3. be an eligible Candidate nominated for the office of Band Council pursuant to ALIB Election Rules
  4. not have committed an Indictable Offence in the last 5 years and have passed an acceptable Royal Canadian Mounted Police criminal records check (Appendix C of the ALIB Election Rules)
  5. be a resident within a 65 kilometer radius of any ALIB IR#1 to IR#7;
  6. Not have an outstanding financial debt owing to the ALIB. (If there is a debt then shall have current payment plan in place and such plan must be in good standing);
  7. not committed a Corrupt Practice or Immoral Conduct determined to be of a serious nature
  8. not have been convicted of an Indictable Offense; providing that conviction for an offense relating to the assertion or exercise of aboriginal rights or title, will not disqualify an individual;
  9. be prepared to pay a non-refundable two hundred - fifty ($250) dollar nomination fee, which must be paid before the close of the Nominations Meeting;
  10. Seek a pardon, if required.

A Candidate may be nominated for one position, either for Chief or Councillor, in any Election.
