NOTICE IS GIVEN, that the Peters Band proposes to enact the Financial Administration Law (hereafter referred to as the “Proposed Law”).

DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED LAW: The Proposed Law is a law to regulate the receipt, management and expenditure of the Peters Band funds and to establish the corresponding financial administrative structure of the Peters Band which manages the funds. It is enacted pursuant to section 9 of the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (Canada) which provides that the Peters Band Council may make laws respecting the financial administration of the Peters Band. The Peters Band Council has fiduciary responsibilities which include the management and protection of all Peters Band property, including Peters Band funds, in the best interests of its members and for future generations. The Peters Band Council accordingly wishes to establish a comprehensive law to govern financial accountability to its members and to protect the Peters Band’s financial security.
