NOTICE OF PROPOSED LOCAL REVENUE LAWS AND
INVITATION TO MAKE REPRESENTATIONS

 

THIS NOTICE is given pursuant to section 6 of the First Nations Fiscal Management Act (the “FMA”).

 

The Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation (the “First Nation”) proposes to enact the Mississaugas of Scugog Island First Nation Sewer Service Fee Law, 2017 (the “Proposed Law”).

 

DESCRIPTION OF PROPOSED LAW:  The Proposed Law made under the authority of section 5(1)(a.1) of the FMA.  The sewer service fee law levies users of the wastewater treatment plant to collect from those users the cost to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment plant, and it provides that while certain users will be exempt from payment of user fees, the First Nation will pay such levies using other revenues.  A copy of the Proposed Law may be obtained from the First Nation at the address set out below.

 

WRITTEN REPRESENTATIONS: The Council of the First Nation invites written representations regarding the Proposed Law.  If you wish to make a written representation, your written representation must be received by the First Nation at the address set out below, by 5:00 p.m. November 27, 2017.   Council will consider all written representations received in accordance with this Notice before enacting the Proposed Law.
